Production and Supply Chain Management
Our research focuses on developing planning methods to support decision-making in production and logistics. The problems we address include forecasting material requirements, planning production and transport volumes, machine scheduling, and optimising storage and retrieval processes in warehouses. By transferring our models into suitable software environments, our research results can be directly applied in practice. In addition to increasing the efficiency of production and logistics activities, our research also aims to take social and ecological objectives into account. For example, we investigate how the design of processes and workplaces in production and logistics can improve workplace quality, or how the adaptation of production processes can reduce the emission of pollutants. Our research results contribute to enabling sustainable management in production and logistics.
In the research ranking published by Wirtschaftswoche in late 2024, TU Darmstadt once again achieved excellent results.
